I think the place we all need to start is to know the enemy. We need to know who ISIS/ISIL are before we take any sort of measures against them. I absolutely agree that they need to be annihilated, but we've already spent $1 trillion dollars and several thousand American lives on a war that just felt right in Iraq and we've got little to show for it. In fact, it's very likely that ISIS is a *result* of that misguided invasion. We need to be more lethal than the enemy, yes, but that means being smarter not simply more outraged.

The point is, they believe their countries were attacked. They did what they thought they must to win that war. It appears to be backfiring but this is what happens when people get attacked.
It doesn't matter that they were not the acknowledged leaders of these countries. If you attack people they are going to do some nasty things in return.
We have no business in these countries.
