As a conservative, I will concede that I don't care.
On the other hand, as a taxpayer I resent having to pay for convicted traitor Bradley Manning's sex change operation.
Sex change is primarily a cosmetic surgery, which I feel should remain a personal expense. So I agree, tax money should not go to someone's sex change operation.
That's not an answer. How do you know 'whats dominant?'
I read an article a while back about a baby born with both. The parents decided they wanted a girl so the chopped off the child's penis (it's also easier to remove). 11 years later, they child was asking when their penis was going to grow? Why? Because she was actually a he.
There's not a single piece of scientific research that suggests that your over simplified analysis of the issue is sufficient in dealing with the overall problem.
What if someone who has both cannot choose ? Is there a category for andgrogyny?
Androgyny is the combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. Sexual ambiguity may be found in fashion, gender identity, sexual identity, or sexual lifestyle. It can also refer to biological intersex physicality, especially with regard to plant and human sexuality.
I'll stick with the evidence-based views of medical specialists, not the ignorant opinions of people who spout common non-sense.
Pay for GCS yourself and I don't honestly care what you believe. Don't involve me in funding the "cure" for what you believe is physical, and I don't care. My agreement, once again, is not what is sought. My money is.
That's what all these new "official victim class" applications and marketing campaigns are for...to get new account codes added to the national welfare general ledger. Nodding/saying your acceptance is not sufficient, you musty pony up cash for my GCS and then I'll believe you are tolerant.
It's a shakedown, regardless of what either of us believes concerning the psychological or physical nature of the condition.

68.5% of Americans are overweight or obese. 68.5% of 319.8 million people. Hypertension and diabetes are two common co-morbidities of obesity. $190 billion is spent yearly dealing with the health issues of obese people, the vast majority of whom are obese because they guzzle soda and stuff their faces with fast food.
An estimated 42.1 million Americans smoke. In 2004 the amount of money spent treating smoking-related illnesses was $193 billion dollars.
We, all of us here in the US pay for their healthcare.
There's an estimated 700,000 transgender people in the US. The estimated cost of each and every one of them transitioning is around 1 million dollars.
Where's the shakedown happening?
I don't want to pay the healthcare costs for fat people or smokers but I do.
Note: I weight 145 lbs. and have never smoked in my life.
Transgender people are damaged goods, just like those with Aspergers or Autism. And it's wrong for others to have to pay (through their insurance premiums and taxes) for their sex change operations. Pay for your elective surgeries yourself or crowdsource the funding. And all this surgery nonsense is because of recent technological advances in medicene. What did transgender people do for the previous thousands of years? Nothing. They just dealt with it and didn't reproduce.

You might have disease-prone genes.
Should we have to pay for that?
By the way, 700,000 people times one million dollars equals $700 billion dollars, which is about a fifth of the entire federal budget of $3.5 trillion.
