We sure do not have that now.
You will never get that in anyone from the Democrat party. Look at the voting demographics. Democrats win on the minority vote. If Democrats were to heal the wounds and encourage an environment of reconciliation and mutual tolerance they would be signing their own death warrant. Democrats lose on virtually all the issues, lose the middle and upper middle class vote, lose the vote from married women. It is critical for Democrats to keep the poor, the people of color, and single women turned against the mainstream. It is the only way they win elections. Just look at the demographics from any recent election. The moment minorities reconcile with the mainstream, Democrats lose.

Actually, Democrats win all of these categories.

Untrue.

It’s worth noting that in this election only those earning less than $50,000 voted in the majority for Democrats. Above the $50,000 income line, voters swung Republican. Among those earning $50,000-$75,000, voters chose Republicans over Democrats at a rate of 52 percent to 46 percent. Those earning $75,000-$200,000 voted Republican 56 percent to 42 percent. And those making more than $200,000 voted for Republican candidates 62 percent of the time.

By comparison, in CNN’s 2008 polling, the results showed that all income brackets for those earning less than $100,000 broke Democrat by a rate of 56 percent to 41 percent. Individuals earning more than $100,000 voted Republican only 50 percent to 48 percent.

In research shared with The Atlantic, they showed that Americans who make less than $70,000 (about 70% of the country) are considerably more likely to vote Democratic. Those making more than $70,000 are more likely to vote Republican.

Fifty-three percent of married female voters went for Romney. Among single women, by contrast, Romney was about as popular as an extra 20 pounds; a mere 31 percent supported him. The gap between married and single women, then, is wider than the male-female gap that the media have been touting. And it isn’t new; married women have voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, with the one exception of 1996, when they preferred President Clinton by 4 percentage points.
The Misunderstood Gender Gap by Kay S. Hymowitz, City Journal 16 November 2012

Democrats only win in large majorities among the extremely uneducated (high school drop outs), minorities, unmarried women, and the poor.

St Louis Alderman Antonio French was very prominent in the Ferguson protests and has tried to raise his national profile through those protests (even the protesters believe he is only in it to make a name for himself). This is what he had to say about this:
https://twitter.com/AntonioFrench/st...15366309765120
"If the federal gov't and the Florida gov't say that #GeorgeZimmerman broke no law when he killed #TrayvonMartin then we need a new law."

What pisses me off, is that I am actually working personally and directly on making some of the substantive changes that protesters are seeking here in St Louis (with the court systems in particular), and then you have this guy saying stuff like this just to hunt a national spotlight. Seems like the whole country should consider informing Mr. French that he needs to get out of the business of making law for the City of St Louis, since he is so focused on the laws of places other this his city.

May I bring up the law of unintended consequences when you get upset and start passing new laws?

Frankly, a lot of the stricter new laws are going to effect people of color disproportionately due to poverty.

You might just wind up incarcerating 50 Michael Browns for every George Zimmerman.

Just a caution.

I hear what you are saying about the grandstanders though.

Trying to be the next Al Sharpton. ugh. The irony is that to get to be him, you have to be a sell-out.
That means only criticizing and grinding on "politically approved" targets and not going after your own party even when they deserve it.

Sharptons cowardice in confronting Chicago's racist housing legacy etc. (Which MLK tackled) because the powerful Daley family didn't want him stirring the pot there is a classic example.
Al slunk out of town with his tail between his legs, he didn't want to get ostracized politically.
