I am sure shooters among us can guess why.

Remember when Black Talons were banned back in the 90s due to being considered "cop killers".
Steel core 7.62X39 is not banned... look up Tula ammo or most other Russian ammo

Black Talon was more banned due to its imposing name... it is back on the market under a different name. I believe there was also some liability from the marketing of it.

Apparently it is banned.

Yes,I know about BT being reissued under another name but they were banned due to being considered cop killers.

Talking banning .223 bullets

Interestingly, beyond the .22, .223 is the most common rifle cartridge in the US. The main focus is on ballistic tip bullets, which are widely used by target shooters.

Meanwhile, the republicans stand by and do nothing, as usual.

Obama to ban bullets by executive action, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle | WashingtonExaminer.com#!

Pull-EEZ!

That article is beyond retarded.

Stopping the sale of military M855 ammo to the public is a far cry from the hyperpartisan and deceptive title of "banning .223 bullets." There will be plenty of 5.56 and 223 ammo for everyone.

It's specifically against m855

m855 is not steel core. It does not meet the ATF definition of armor piercing.

It is a lead core bullet with a steel tip.
I had never read the details and noticed "A full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber" in your quote. How can they ban steel core 5.45x39? That's .20 caliber.

...... for now.............

I guess you don't shoot, as the essential absence of .22 LR ammo over the last four years has been lost on you.

What happens when people cannot get one type of .223/5.56 round? They buy another (different grain than 55, different tip) which creates a shortage of that ammunition type.

With shortages, prices go up and essentially drives many people out of the market to buy ammo, making thier AR-15 useless.

It is interesting, however, that Obama has suggested banning the AR-15 altogether, which WOULD BE a declaration of war by the POTUS on the people of the US.

As a liberal, what RIGHTS do you feel are acceptable to ban? Freedom of Speech? Right to a speedy trial? Illegal search and seizure?

Wake up
