No, offended by his refusal to be a responsible citizen, and now I (the insured, and the taxpayer) will have to pay all but $17k of his medical bills, which are almost surely well over 10x that. I'm sick and tired of the free-loaders on the system. ESPECIALLY the ones that call everyone else free-loaders.
I don't wish misfortune on anyone, and I'm sad for his situation, and wish him and his family the best. But just because they had misfortune (which arguably, they brought some of it on themselves), does not give them a pass for being moochers on society.
If you can't afford to pay a six or seven digit medical bill, then you have an obligation to be insured. (with or without a law to tell you that)
Idiocy would be thinking a government mandate is going to keep ypu healthy
Ok, you seriously don't get the idiocy of foregoing health insurance that would have offered him coverage for the large majority of his medical bills in the event of a catastrophic health event? You really think it is better for this guy to now have to sell his home and declare personal bankruptcy?

This is for your kids. You may be an arsehole, but your kids still need a dad. You should have signed up for Obamacare. No point cutting off your nose to spite your face. Hope you now work towards getting people healthcare as opposed to denying them that. Good luck!

As a socialist hypocrite, who held a taxpayer-funded job, perhaps you will realize what Jefferson’s use of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” modified from John Locke is really all about. Only $5 for having a flawed JS Mill/Libertarian mindset. While you assume responsibility for self-affecting actions, your other-affecting actions hurt countless others.

Your position against the Affordable Care Act is despicable. You did your best to make sure millions of other people would end up in the situation you are in now, through no fault of their own. But the ACA is here now, and there was no reason you could not have contributed toward your own healthcare costs, yet you chose to be a deadbeat instead. But I believe that health care should be a basic right for all humans, even those who are despicable.

No one should have to face the terrible reality you're facing. This is why we need universal health care coverage. Let's work together to provide basic medical care to our citizens. I agree it is too expensive, and government can always do better, but we should be working together to lower costs, improve government efficiency, and provide healthcare to our nation's citizens. I hope you reach your goal, but additional healthcare expenses will certainly come. This is no way for our country to treat its citizens.
Charity, the way it is suppose to be.
Your community will help you, if you are worth helping.
Heart attack is a serious issue, but he seems to have survived. They will have to dig deeper to help this moocher because the $17K won't get him far. If he had a heart attack, it will pay for a fraction of the cost. If it requires open heart surgery, then they'll have to dig real deep.
He probably won't get insurance in the future either now that he knows he'll be bailed out by his neighbors.

I disagree. Leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars of unpaid medical bills unpaid is not how it's supposed to be. Mooching off of the responsible, hard working people is not how it's supposed to be. If this guy subscribed to "conservative principles", he would have been able to cover his bills, or at least "Charity" would have. $17k isn't even the down payment on a Heart Attack. Think he'll sell his house and possessions to pay the debt he chose to incur by not being insured? Or will he default on his responsibilities, leaving the bill to be redistributed to those who pay responsibly?
Sorry for his situation, but the guy is a turd-stain on our society.
I don't know if he retired or quit or what, but if he retired he was eligible for health insurance through the cops retirement plan. He would have received a small subsidy but paid most of it himself. He also had the option to purchase coverage on the exchange from well over 100 plans that are offered in Arizona. He decided to go bare and now he wants his right wing followers to pick up the tab for him. Typical mooch, but apparently they are doing it.
You seem to be mistaking "rejoicing" from laughing at stupidity. Two different things. I would not rejoice in your drowning, if you refused a life jacket in a boat, and condemned life jackets, knowing you can't swim, but may make me shake my head and smile at how dumb you where.
If you have a chance to have coverage, and everyone is required to have coverage, there is no excuse to not have it. Even the poor who can not afford it have it available. Its time for some people to realize that its not always some one else's fault when decisions one makes go sour. I got tired of excuses for stupidity a long time ago. Live with it and learn.
So its ok to rejoice at his stupidity but not the stupidity of those who choose to never better themselves and now demand subsidies?
Former Sheriff Richard Mack is part of the "constitutional sheriff" movement and opposes Obamacare. He didn't sign up through the ACA website and has no insurance. He makes the absurd claim that "because they [he and wife] are self-employed, they have no medical insurance". In January 2015 he had a heart attack and last November his wife was hospitalized with serious medical issues. A GoFundMe account was launched and in 26 days has raised $17,033 for his medical bills.

Even dumber still.......
Quote:
"Because they are self-employed, they have no medical insurance and are in desperate need of our assistance," reads a note on Mack's personal website.
While I am also self-employed, I am never without insurance.
Sheriff Mackie has gone from ACA critic to mooch..... Classic.

so all the people being subsidized by others are also turd stains?
