Not looking for any back and forth political mud slinging. Just some insight on why Obama is so soft on illegal immigration and his justification for it.

1) America was founded by immigrants, so in a way, there's a contradictory irony to being harshly against illegal immigrant (and yes, by today's standards, the first European settler's would have been 100% illegal immigrants).

2) Those who get to stay are more likely to vote for him

That's really about it.

Nonsense. When the pilgrims arrived here, there was no USA, thus no immigration laws to break. The American Indians were here already, having come here from Asia. Same idea---no country, no immigration laws to break.

Otherwise, Obama wants to amnesty all the illegal aliens and open the borders because he sees them all as future democrat voters.

He also shows that he doesn't care about the millions of suffering underemployed and unemployed American citizens. Especially odious, he is throwing black people under the bus and doing so while well aware of their high unemployment rates.

Because he's a realist?

I've always opposed illegal immigration, especially back when the flood began. But it's over. They're here. We're not going to deport 12 million people, so a solution should be found. The status-quo has failed - miserably.

I hate that argument, yes, America was founded on immigrants, but the laws have changed for a reason. We don't want just anybody coming into our country as they please and bringing in things like diseases and gangs.

The only reason immigration laws didn't exist is because the Native Americans didn't have such a rigid culture. And even if they did, we considered them subhuman anyway, and would have completely ignored the laws. Needless to say, illegal or not, what happened was clearly BS.

As for the unemployed thing; that's what would happen regardless. Jobs are getting outsourced like crazy because it's cheaper. If Obama, or any of the numerous other presidents who came before him, actually cared about outsourcing, they would have done something by now. But Obama is hardly doing anything new. At worst, he's upholding the traditional legacy of letting the people who actually run this country do whatever the hell they want because money>people.

That's literally what Europeans brought with them. So you're right, we don't want that. Just as the Native Americans what that does to you.

Well first of all Obama isn't NEARLY as 'soft' on illegal immigration as G.W.Bush was. Under this administration there have been FAR more deportations.

If you don't understand the basic facts of the situation... how can you demand an explanation?

The first European settlers were not immigrants.

They were colonists.

They had no interest in being allowed in by those already here.

They were coming anyway.

They were not coming here to become a part of the existing society.

They were coming to establish their own society.

They got away with it because they were in a position to do so.

Hopefully we will not be colonized.
