So the idiocy of the right has them rejecting a largely republican approach to national healthcare... the ACA. It's weakness is that it keeps insurance companies (profit driven) in the mix.

We have a simple solution at hand that doesn't make a new complex system ... lower the age of Medicare. This single payer system operates on a 2-3% expense, 17% lower than the best insurance company. The thought to privatize is absurd as it keeps the profit in it, which if you own the company is great for you alone...not the rest of us.

So why don't we obsolete the ACA by lowering the age until we reach zero? We will have 100% covered, we will have the most efficient system available, and the lowest rates for all.

Why not ask our representatives to do something that makes sense vs continuing to do nothing? Why do we settle for the most ineffective congress in history?

If everyone is responsible for everyone's healthcare then we will have a healthier society than having the individual responsible for their own but having to pay for the uninsured anyway. I assume that sick people will be treated and not left to die on the street.

As we are all paying anyway why not have the system administered by the government that is good at administering stuff without the burden of making a profit or having multimillion dollar executive salaries?

If the US went to a single payer system, I'm pretty sure the majority of investment in new drugs will evaporate.

Damn, that is comedy gold.

Healthcare.gov is an example of what happens when the government "administers stuff". Government is rarely the answer, but almost always the problem. This administration is setting the bar progressively lower in terms of efficiency, but it's not because the moron in the Blight House has a D next to his name.

Medicare has its good points, but it also is full of fraud and waste, just like most other government administered programs.

Medicare will be broke in 2030 and you want to open the door to everyone ?

Are you insinuating that you pay for your healthcare without other's burden? If you are, then you would be sadly misinformed. I don't know you, but I'm willing to bet I've paid for some part of your healthcare, or I will before you die.

Solution? End government involvement in health insurance entirely. Done.

Give it ten years, we'll be so much better off.

We won't go to single pay. Vermont even scrapped that.
8-10% more taken out in taxes (that's on the individual) and it still wasn't enough.

Do you really believe the private sector insurance is without fraud, waste and abuse? How many CEO's hire their sons in law into a secure job to protect their daughters? More than a few.
