What kind of a tool gets a cashier job at a grocery store and expects to not handle pork every now and again? I agree with Mr_Geek. If it's an issue work at a Halal store (if there are any) or don't work with food period.
As others have said, if you don't like your job or your workplace (as long as they are not breaking any laws), then the obvious and reasonable solution is to find someplace else to work!
(Obviously, I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever for Mr. Camara.)
Complete and utter foolishness This is PC and accommodation taken to the extreme and is one reason why I'm opposed to many of these so-called human rights laws. If you don't want to work with pork, then go work at a halal or kosher supermarket. Problem solved. Don't voluntarily go to work for a store that sells pork and then cry that you're being discriminated against when, as part of your job, you come across pork items. What's even more mind-boggling is that individual received an accommodation, but still cried the "D" word. Complete foolishness.

To me, this is the same thing as when a pharmacy employee refuses to sell birth control or plan B. If the company you works for sells a particular product, you sell the product or find another place to work.
Camara was all about people having different beliefs and everyone should be treated equally. But he was actually asking to be treated differently, by refusing to handle pork. He was insubordinate. I don't think he has a case, it's frivolous.
