It was never a priority when Democrats ruled both houses and the president in reality. The last serious was when bush got it to floor then withdrew by supporters because of out cry by voters. The day McCain said "We got the message".

Except the Democrats didn't campaign on immigration reform. It was one of the main campaign issues for the GOP last November. Now suddenly...it doesn't matter...?

The (D)'s didn't run on doing everything in their power to stop amnesty if in power.

Immigration reform looks dead in this Congress - Burgess Everett and Seung Min Kim - POLITICO

Just as suspected, there will be no immigration reform forthcoming from this Republican Congress. They are all talk, but when it comes right down to it, they lack the courage to attempt to disenfranchise the fastest growing segment of the electorate. The Tea Party has been had again by the establishment GOP.
Nah, they just talked about it to get people to vote for them. Lies, lies, lies..... what else is new?

What was promised was doing everything they could to stop amnesty. Instead they funded it. You are correct that reform isn't needed when you are simply going to fund amnesty.

So you're good with the president's EO on immigration and don't feel it's necessary to try to reverse it any longer?

Yet the EO can be unsigned in less than 2 years.

So its a temporary stay of deportation. Nothing more.

So the core question is, why is reform needed?
