Heard this on the radio this morning...

New Mexico high school dance theme: get ready for prom-munism! « Hot Air

Maybe they can have tepid tap water and bread lines for their buffet?

This is pretty funny. Judging from the tone of the article posted and the head-smacking icon in the OP, I'd say the kids who voted for this have accomplished their goal.

Here is some reading:

‘Prom-munism’ dance sparks backlash | Albuquerque Journal News

Note that this article cites the school's director as stating that the students only voted on the name 'prom-munism', and that it was 'the media' that decided that the students wanted a 'communist themed' prom.

That prom dress is coming off whether it's a Mao suit or a Versace gown. The latter is going to make for better prom night memories, however.

That is because there is no issue. As noted in my link, the school executive director claims that it was the initial media reporter that decided that 'prom-muism' must mean 'communism'.

Just as a lark, here be a list of words that end with the dreaded 'ism':

List words ending with ism

So I'm guessing the school will be assigning everyone's prom dates then?
