I am no fan of obama (small letters on purpose) but the reason I believe is that if the plane went down, both parents could be killed, it's a safety thing not political thing, and I have no problem with it. It sure as hell isn't the first time and has been done for other Presidents. There are a lot more pressing problems with obama than this. Or with the entire government for that matter. Michelle Obams's entourage should only be secret service. They could have flown on the same jet. The rest of her "entourage" should fly commercial.

and by the way, EVERY president since eisenhower has had TWO aircraft at least in the flight.

considering the entourage both have, and considering that when the president flies there are always TWO 747s anyway, along with two C17s with all the ground vehicles, etc. and four F15s flying escort, and then add in the advance teams that fly in for both the president and the first lady, i have no issue with this. chances are the first lady flew in the second 747 anyway, so its not like they added a third plane to the mix.
My God, they are killing the environment with all of these frequent travels.
Glad hes got his eye on the environment, those 2 taking off probably use more gas than I'll ever use in a lifetime .... shame on me for driving a gas guzzler tho eh ?
It's over $210,000 per flight hour on each of those planes.
Exactly who is selfish to take 2 planes to the same area at the same time when they could have taken ONE?
This isn't "hater", this is common sense basic economics. It's absurd for each of them to fly on their own plane at the Tax Payer expense ...... for no good reason.

Uh no..... they fly together all the time.
Maybe you can tell me which other president and first lady flew across the country on the same day to the same city.
It is the principle of the thing. These are the people who scold executives for using private planes and threaten to cut off the tax deduction for corporate jets (note, most all business expenses can be written down or off, a deduction for corporate jets isn't unique). These are the people who think global warming is the biggest threat to our existence not terrorism and yet they have this massive carbon footprint.

There is a whole fleet of planes available to the executive branch, but Michelle was not on the second plane on this trip, which was a C-17, carrying Marine One. She was on a third plane.
The worst part is that the appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show was a front so he could attend a $33,400 per couple fundraiser in Hollywood. Even though he has no more elections, as he has acknowledged, he is still fundraising at taxpayer expense.
What self-centered people the Obamas are. No consideration whatsoever for wasting taxpayer's dollars.
He to fundraisers for the Left, and she to the Ellen Show. Shameful misuse of money.
They have done nothing different than other presidential family has done. And really...who cares. Why you guys nitpick everything they do is beyond me. How about we focus on the actual problems we are facing.

There is a purpose for both planes flying and it isn't for the conveninece of the First Lady. By the sounds of this article they flew at different times, either the President was left without the extra plane or there was three planes. I don't have an issue with the use of these planes but come on.
