Your state may consider you married, but if a neighbor state doesn't consider anyone married, you would not be considered married by that state.
Why is the expressed will of the people such a problem for you?
The will of the people may not violate the Constitution. i.e. the 14th amendment. And all states have civil marriage laws that will never change. Why should hetro couples have equal protection nationwide while gay couples do not?
And that is what the girl had in the article but she still missed having a father to be there with her and her mother in the same family.
Hate to break this to you, but heterosexual marriage does not guarantee that a girl's father will always be with her. And unfortunately, sometimes a girl is *much* better off without her father.
Our founding fathers said our rights come from our creator. It's in the documents. If our rights come from the government than they can be taken away but we are already experiencing that.
Show me where it says: All Men Are Created Equal....Unless You Are Gay.
The US Supreme Court will be hearing the constitutionality of this based on the 14 TH AMENDMENT, not the 10th. The highest court has already instructed the legal teams to limit their arguments, pro or con, solely on 14th Amendment.
Remember: the US Constitution trumps anything written into a state constitution.
You think the 14th has a big umbrella and catches all.
If that were the case, there would have been no need for the 19th amendment.
There would not have needed to be any amendments after the 14th, if you want it to catch all.
Becareful what you wish for, because if it catches marriage it catches everything in life.

The 19th Amendment is about something specific, but yes it does go hand in hand with the 14th Amendment. Not sure why you would have an issue with this. Many of our amendments go hand in hand.

It is the 19th amendment... It is not needed because the 14th?
So where is the amendment that goes hand in hand with the 14th, concerning marriage?
Not sure why you would have an issue with this constitutional procedure, instead of trying to get around it.

Nothing in the Constitution gives the federal government authority to regulate marriage except as it directly relates to commerce between states.
The federal government being prohibited from interfering in what are by default state issues, the states are free to regulate marriage as they please.
Sorry, there is no magic formula for overruling the people.
The 14th says otherwise.
