I posted in the Tampa Bay forum last night in response to a thread about the Tampa Bay Rays signing a brief in support of gay marriage.

Work on making sure that your own house is full of love and respect.
Live a good life, lead by example and keep your nose out of other people's business.
I don't think that is the appropriate forum for my question to seriously be answered. So, I will ask it here.

Why do some people care who other legal, free, consenting adults marry?

Anyone can be with who ever and how many ever they wish... No one is stopping them.

You want government to become your god... Granting you rights that already exist.
When government has a say one way or the other, it does not matter, it becomes a privilege.
It is all about entitlements the government promises.
Government has never treated everyone equally. They have picked the winners and the losers, since the first law they put into act.

So if the government picks winners and losers is it wrong for a group to advocate getting put in the winners column? Why should they be criticized for doing so?

In this case, it is the State Governments to decide, if it is in their State Constitution or not. Then the People of the State(Republic of California Texas ect,.) vote. It must pass with 2/3. That is how it works.
The 10th Amendment dictates that is where the power in marriage lies, without an amendment to the US Constitution. Where it takes 2/3 of the States and 2/3 of the peoples vote on referendum in each State.

If it was not left to the States, the Federal government would issue marriage licenses.

I know this is all you're seeing on TV now, but quit obsessing over all things gay.

And BTW, it's none of my business until someone makes it my business .

So you agree that however a State defines marriage the Federal government needs to grant the benefits that marriage provides and DOMA was unconstitutional

Maybe because it upsets their personal pompous (I'm better than you) attitudes.
Certainly not worth dwelling over, cause they can't be changed.

I dunno, ask Barak Obama. For the first 51 years of his life he believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. I am sure he had a good reason.
