Well if Obama is going to push this then they are going to need groups to go door to door to register folks and bring them to the polls to vote. If the USG makes it mandatory then the USG is responsible to make sure registering and voting is accessible to all.
And what group better suited for this then an ACORN2
Methinks that some people are really getting carried away with what was likely a mere of-the-cuff remark. Most of you seem to be from Texas for some reason?
I don't know about "mandatory voting", but it is very interesting that a certain group of people are very afraid of 100% voter turnout. That suggests they are not on board with a democratic process that enables all voters.
Would someone who is against 100% voter turnout (via any process), explain why that is?
True to form, really. Kind of like ObamaCare. The left thinks that certain things "should" happen, then they make it mandatory, with fines for not complying.

In the process, taking away ALL choice.
Society is about laws and rules. Compliance is enforced via fines and punishment. As the population increases it becomes even more critical that we aren't all just screwing it up for everyone else, then going "my bad"! The right thinks if we "deregulate" everything, all our problems will just disappear. Do you think that is going to happen? Finding the proper balance is achieved through trial and error and compromise.
"more likely to be immigrants" well umm .. yeah because you have to be a US CITIZEN to be eligible to vote !! Now we all know he would like that to change but right now its the law.
The Constitution does not say voting should take less time that it does to send a text message.
The Constitution guarantees a speedy trial, not a speedy vote.
Can you people try to be more self-centered?

When people go to work for 8 hours, and polls close at a specific time, 6 hours is quite a long time to try to fit in to your schedule.
If I work from 8-4, the polls close at 7, That leaves 3 hours after work not factoring in transportation time. Where is that 6 hours coming from? How do I make the day longer to fit everything in before polls close?
Have you waited longer than six hours in a line to vote?
You seem so dismissive of standing in a line for six hours; how long have you? Eight hours? Longer?
What is the longest you have stood in a line to vote?
