To the underlined: the answer is NO. 70 years post WWII, when we are in an era where massive landings of tens of millions of military are not the norm, when no comparable military power to the USA exists, a beachhead is superfluous.
Please attempt to come up with a true, non religion based rationale for us to expend political capital on your first nation, Israel.

An open letter on a public forum will get you higher up on the NSA list, the FBI list, the IRS list.
From experience I can tell you, elected representatives do NOT like to be called out in any public fashion over ANY issue. Make a suggestion, ask a question or participate in the only process the people have (City and Town meetings) can and will make you a marked man.

Why are we in "an era where massive landings of tens of millions of military are not the norm"? Because people of your ilk take the U.N. seriously? The U.N. is an expensive game of "Risk" at best.
