Wow, way to stand on your principles there, Rafael. He exerted a lot of effort to shut down the government to try to stop the "atrocity that is Obamacare" but the minute he loses his health insurance there he is, sprinting to the exchanges to get him some of that "atrocious" health insurance.
He's openly mocking his supporters and they, like the dupes he knows them to be, eat it up. Priceless.
The 2% (or is it 3% now?) gross income penalty may have had something to do with it.
He could have just, I don't know, chosen to forgo health insurance and be responsible for that decision either way.
Cancer Treatment Centers typically want cash up front from the uninsured, $75-100,000+ for the first of what may be many rounds of treatment. They are under no obligation to treat the uninsured.
A Wealthy Arab flies in on his private jet for medical tourism, has no issue paying cash.
Used to do a little consulting for Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC...you're spot on.
Really - You MUST purchase Obamacare APPROVED policies (you can't keep your plan, even if you like it). Care to identify what Obama approved plans are available in DC?
All healthcare plans must comply with the ACA/Obamacare unless the state has extended a temporary grandfather waiver.
Insurers licensed in DC sell individual plans in DC and elsewhere, offer Bronze- Platinum Plans. While all comply with the ACA, they must also comply with state insurance laws. For example, adult children can remain on their parent's plans till age 31 in NJ. This was true before the ACA and remains true today.
This is one very simple example of state nuance. No two states have the same state insurance or tort laws. And it all matters.
"The newly announced Republican presidential candidate told CNN's Dana Bash on Tuesday that he will sign up for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act -- a law he has been on a crusade to kill."
You may NOT like the 55 mph speed limit but, I' bet you obey it.
This bill sought nothing more than to eliminate the individual mandate. Nothing more or less.
It was not a health care plan.
It was referred to committee and ignored by Paul's own party.
In his 12 terms, Ron sponsored 620 bills. Of them 4 made it to a vote on the house floor. Of this, 1 became law- the sale of a customhouse in Galveston.
I admired his consistency.

Actually, I was in error. It has not been submitted in the Senate yet. However, if the SCOTUS guts Obamacare within the next three months, as is widely expected, the Patient Care Act is very likely going to be the Republican starting point:
I am familiar with it and it's nowhere near ready for the Senate.
Taxing the value of the employer's contribution to the premium is not likely to go over well , regardless of partisanship.
