Hmmm... Where is the capital of this country? Where did the country begin? Where does a plurality of the population live? Where is the biggest city? Where is the financial capital? Where are all the traditionally best schools and universities? Anyway, you get the idea.

None of that justifies the rest of the country being forced to watch endless repetitive segments on the snow in Boston! That is local news. The rest of us could not care less.

LOL Ponderosa, the Oklahoma tornados were local news covered nationally tonight. Endlessly repeated.

Default If so, good

I've never noticed this bias, but we can count on that entire great region to always vote for the right person as President of the United States. It is a solidly BLUE region, so if there is indeed a bias, GOOD.

I agree. The most maddening thing to me is how NYC's local news becomes national news. Remember the automobile accident where a woman got in a wreck that killed her and her daughters and nieces, and they found pot and alcohol in her system? A sad story to be sure, but local. We have our own sad local stories that you guys have never heard of because of course you wouldn't be interested.

It's something I never thought about having been born in New Jersey, growing up and going to college in North Carolina, and now living in the D.C. area. Bias? Is that what it's called when it's not Fox News dominating? Interesting

Same with the mudslides, fires and drought on the West coast. Why am I (sitting way over here on the East Coast) subjected to days of coverage on those local issues? Could it be because all news (local and national) is only about one thing.....ratings? And that most people are, by nature, pretty voyeuristic and will watch?

LOL
When was the last time you were in the middle of CA? Twenty years ago?
It is now dominated by illegals and Mexican nationals. There are whole cities where no one speaks English.
You are right though about the FEW Americans left there.

Just my 2 cents here. It has been said in reference to my state of Ohio that "as Ohio goes, so goes the nation." Now there is some truth to that especially in the political arena, because in recent history whichever presidential candidate carries Ohio wins the election. Now that's not to say that I'm pleased with that, and I was not one of those Ohioans that voted for Obama (didn't vote for Romney either) but it is what it is. But politics aside, Ohio is also a test market for companies testing new products (Columbus especially). It's been said that based on the results of the products Ohio is just a small sliver, and in fact quite influential in terms of the direction of this nation. A lot of folks on both coasts consider Ohio as part of "flyover country" and while a good portion of the state is rural, with a population of over 11.5 million people, ranking 7th, and 8 large cities 3 of them being major metropolitan areas tells me otherwise.
