I haven't taken time to read all the responses, but I can pretty much figure out many of them. All I have to say is; what a shame: Our President exchanged 5 terrorists and some may be back in action right now for the release of a probable deserter. He made a huge deal about greeing this jerks parents in the Rose Garden and he has never shown any remorse. Yes we know the accussed is innocent until proven guilty but the facts seem to spell: GUILTY. Wouldn't you think the commander in chief could save face and still admit, he may have acted to fast or does he really care? i
Obama also did not give Congress the 30 days advance notice of Gitmo prisoner release that he was supposed to either.
Most likely he wanted to sneak instead of causing any commotion over his folly.
The marine was an ex-marine, making him a civilian. It could have been anyone that was a civilian and Obama wouldn't have made an effort to get them released.
Yep.
It's part of his "Leave all citizens behind" program.
Obama does have a way of painting himself into a corner, doesn't he...
He saw this as an opportunity to get rid of 5 prisoners in Gitmo, thus helping his legacy; and he hoped the country would buy his version of why he 'saved' Bergdahl. That entire press conference with the parents and all that huggy-kissy stuff was such a sickening show, all for the purpose of manipulating public opinion.
He left his obligation to go take a walk in enemy territory so no credit for time served with them.
For all we know he may have played checkers & had Koran study with them the whole time.
This is also an embarrassment to the military, of course they were part of the decision. They had come close to making a deal several times, I don't think the joint chiefs are going to say let's get them down to one prisoner when they want to close Guantanamo in any event.
I am not talking about time served as far as his time spent in the hands of the Taliban but it will be a consideration in sentencing. He seems to have mental problems and has not spoken to his parents since he came back, he does not appear to be right.
I can just imagine the response if members of a seal team were killed trying to recover him, then you would be asking why he didn't just do a prisoner exchange like everyone else.
What about rangers, SF.....or any other?
Why did it have to be 5 years later?

There are fools, you have that right, for once...........but not that Soldier, nor this admin....
That article is bogus. He was not a POW, he was a deserter.
He did shed a tear when the enemy was releasing him......or was it dust in his eye??
Wonder why the bold is so hard to acknowledge when even soldiers have told this.
