From the beginning, this crash seemed suspicious since it made a regulated descent into the mountains with no distress calls.
I didn't understand why Obama came out the same day and said there was no indications of terror, since no one really knew at that point.
Turns out, this was no accident. The voice recorder shows that the co-pilot asked the pilot if he could control the plane for a bit. The pilot said yes, and left the cockpit for a few minutes. When he returned, the door was locked. The pilot tried to break in to the cockpit, but was unsuccessful, and the co-pilot purposefully crashed into the mountains, killing everyone on board.
We don't know the co-pilot's motivation yet, but it seems like in the future, the responsible thing to do would be wait for the investigation whether than running out and declaring it's not terrorism the first day.
IMO just because it wasn't an accident (if indeed that proves to be the case) that doesn't make it terrorism. Terrorism is something larger than a person that commits suicide while taking others with him. There is nothing factual yet that the pilot had any larger statement to make.
Granted, it might have been premature to say this had nothing to do with terrorism but so far I've seen nothing to say it did.
Just because something bad happens, that doesn't make it an act of terrorism.

IMHO the term terrorism is getting thrown around too loosely these days. Anytime there is a mass killing the first word out of peoples mouths is terrorism.

Blowing up, hijacking and crashing planes has been a terrorist staple for decades.

And is usually the case. I would say its terrorism before I say its not terrorism.
It seems according to the CVR that the first officer deliberately misled the CAPT to perform the deed. Of course it could be just simple murder/suicide.

It's terrorism because of the obvious effect it will have on travel and airlines in Europe now.
Now that we know the details, the only way one could argue it's not terrorism is if this guy was mentally ill and not living in reality, had a fantasy going in his mind of what he was doing.
Any speculation about motive is useless at this point. But one thing is certain: any time a pilot or co-pilot leaves the cockpit there's got to be a way for them to get back in no matter what the situation. The pilot was apparently pounding on the door even tried to break it down while the co-pilot was flying the plane into the side of a mountain. Number one: all airlines have to find a way to make sure this never happens again.
I'm guessing Obama ruled out terrorism because he couldn't find a youtube video.
When did Obama rule out terrorism? That statement sounds a little idiotic. People with an agenda are always trying to bring Obama into every situation. There's help available for this condition...
