The credibility of the messenger never matters. It's the message that matters. The messenger either makes a logical valid argument/statement, or they spout nonsense. If it's nonsense, then logical argument can be made against it.
Only those who don't like the argument being made, but won't admit why and can't make a logical argument against, turn to insult, distraction, whatever to cast doubts on credibility of messenger. It's classic logical fallacy.
