How does he know he wouldn't have gotten in otherwise? I mean this makes a fun story, and apparently it makes a career for him, but I guess I need more.

Why should anyone be denied the Black privilege that is affirmative action? And if race is just a social contract then why can't he be Black?

So in other words, the story provides no proof of what it claims, no time line, no nothing.

Naw. It is mediocre.
I went to med school in the 1990s.
In fact, exactly 17 years ago.
The 31 is OK, but the 3.1 woulda killed him.

Is the 3.1 cumulative, like getting a couple of C's in World Lit and P.E. ????? Or was it for his pre requisite classes.

This case isn't necessarily affirmative action. He had the GPA and a good MCAT score. Chances are very likely he would have been admitted to a US medical schools anyway.

The med schools back then split it.
They would look at your cumulative GPA and just your prerequisite GPA (the science courses that were 'premed requirements').

3.1 back then was a "Good luck, buddy" kind of score back then.
The 31 MCAT was above average, but not stellar.

Not really.
Especially not really if you were not an underrepresented minority (black, hispanic, native american).

I don't agree that he had good scores. I do agree that he might have gotten in anyway.

Obviously, being Indian (a minority) didn't help him in this case.
