So now checking the box white, means you speak English?
Maybe this is how Bush sees himself: I did some informal research – asked friends and family (adults and children) what “Hispanic” means to them – and here is a sampling of the responses:
“Delicious food, saucy personalities, killer music and beautiful people (inside and out).”
“Born and raised in a Latino country and 1st language being Spanish.”
“Rich culture and family traditions.”
“Celebrating Spanish things with your family.”
“Always speaking Spanish when someone around you doesn’t know English.”
I wonder what kind of mental gymnastics one must go thru to compare checking a box on a voter registration form (what Jeb Bush did) without ever once making a public claim to be Hispanic... Is exactly the same thing as giving multiple speeches, writing multiple articles and making the claim that you are native American as a function of a political run for office, and using the Native American claim to claim minority status....(which is what Elizabeth Warren did)
I also wonder if doing such mental gymnastics leaves one with a need for psychotropic drugs?
My question is how did Jeb make this mistake? I don't think it was a mistake per se. He just decided he was Hispanic because of his Hispanic wife and is vying for the Hispanic vote. He had an ulterior motive.
Why would he have thought anyone would ever know that was how his voter registration was checked? I suspect you probably think all the Bushes are dumb but do you really think he could have possibly thought he would get votes by checking Hispanic when everyone knows his family?
