Government control eventually kills a society. Here is a good example;
-----------------------------
Whether a state has a more corporatist flavor or a more “socialist” flavor (crony systems typically have both) it is the denial of prices, the denial of reality, which leads ultimately to disaster. If the pricing mechanism isn’t allowed to work distortions in the economy arise. Distortions make the system wobbly, and sooner or later the system is off the rails.

And out of toilet paper.

So um.... what exactly is your thesis? Socialism leads to destruction of a society?

So, don't do anything socialist at all? Should we shut down everything that is considered public?

I though this was going to be about how terrible interstates are. We have to do whatever it takes to get rid of those socialistic things.

The government is merely one tentacle of the involuntary statist society where unprovoked aggression is used to attain and maintain the means of production.

Actually under socialism the government would control the means of production. Thus, this is not a demonstration of socialism failing. It demonstrates that unrealistic price controls fail.

Would socialism do any better controlling the availability and pricing of toilet paper? No idea. But this is not an example of socialism.

Just another example of people labeling things without any actual relationship to the meaning of the words used.

Maybe in your world it's black and white. But it the real world, it's not. There are degrees of socialism and capitalism. No country is 100% free and no country is 100% controlled by the government (maybe with the exception of North Korea and Cuba). Venezuela is a good example of the failures of socialism.

I don't recall suggesting that. Maybe your mind is wandering.

Do you have a comment on the OP, or just this deflection?

Of course roads and bridges are generally collectively owned and operated; they are what economists call a "public good," which is something for which demand exists, but not necessarily supply due to transaction cost issues. Other classic examples of this are coastal light-houses in pre-electricity times, and public parks.

Toilet paper does not qualify.
