US has fallen so far in so many areas, that it is only a myth that it is the best country to live in. That myth may slowly sinking as Americans expand their horizons and travel outside of their country, however it is a well known fact, that most Americans have never been outside their own country so how could they have a clue as to what goes on elsewhere.
What a sad situation.
Norway, along with most of post WW 2 Europe, followed the American model of democracy after 1945. In fact Norway's constitution comes directly from the American Constitution.
Apparently they thought the U.S. was kinda exceptional.

The Constitution of Norway was written in 1814.
You're only off by 131 years.
I suppose there are many places people like you could live and get by on a meager income while being assisted by a half-hearted welfare system.
Have at it bro. I only wish I could compel you to actually move to such a place and experience it instead of just writing about. You would soon long for the freedoms you aren't grateful for.
So instead of arguing the facts you deflect. Its all good, I know the truth hurts.
Oh and PS, there are alot of countries on the list that if I had a chance to move and become a permanent resident, I wouldn't hesitate.

Most of these comparison threads only talk about the great government benefits that all the citizens get. Few mention the taxes and restrictions that go with those great government benefits.
Yep. Like Norway's VAT. The standard tax rate is 25%. A reduced rate of 15% applies to foodstuffs.
Yes, Canada was there both times right from the beginning. US? Took a wait and see attitude.
Look up Vimy Ridge sometime to see what sacrifice is all about.
Applause for Canada, who was pretty much forced to come help mommy and daddy, the King and Queen Britain. Bra-Vo!
Funnily enough, it is an example that - to this day - shows that the world is absolutely schizophrenic when it comes to how they want the United States to wield power:
Call for war or enter a conflict too soon: "THE US IS IMPERIALIST WAR MONGERS!"
Take an isolationist approach: "THE US DIDN'T GET INVOLVED SOON ENOUGH!"
(Ya know, besides basically bankrolling and feeding the allies during this time, but what's facts got to do with it?)

And gas is taxed at 40%. I'm sure Norway is a lovely place, but you people who are using this survey as yet another pretext to bash Obama may wish to ponder whether you'd really be happy paying $7.50 a gallon for gas.
Sorry, I'm more impressed by the country that leads the world in technology innovation, most powerful military, best agricultural industry, biggest entertainment and movie industry and largest influence on the world's music than I am in a country that has a million barrels of oil per resident and is milking that for all it's worth....good that they are being smart about spending their huge oil wealth but they are not really achieving anything special as USA does.
unlike the US, if you graduate college in Europe you actually get job placement
in your field of study.
in the US, it's like, sorry, good luck out there, and pay off that loan.
