They know that leftist mandates are meaningless without heavy dependence on the oppressive blanket of mechanisms of the state to monitor and enforce compliance with their myriad hair-brained social engineering projects and torrents of pseudoscience-motivated regulations.

It's why you're met with gauntlets of squealing by them if even the most modest revenue cuts are proposed for the hyper-state.

The right also uses the mechanisms of the state to impose it's agenda.

The right by definition is paleo and libertarian and small-gov't minded.

Neocons aren't "the right"; rather they are leftist Republicans (aka Rockefeller Republicans). Neoconservatism is "neo-" (i.e., 'new-,' 'improved-,' 'lefty anodyne-') for a reason: it is, on record, Trotskyism brought by Bill Kristol's father, Irving Kristol, into the U.S. via Mexico City in the 1950s.

Leftists are totalitarian in nature, favoring the "rights" and priviledge of the government over the individual. Pining for an authoritarian socialist state in the mold of Stalin would be appealing to most.

Witness:

1. limits on free speech-
a. "fairness doctrine"
b. FTC controlling the internet
c. shouting down conservatives at college campuses
d. suppressing conservative opposition views via political correctness (an invention of Stalin)
e. contempt and scorn for the one opposition television news outlet- Fox

2. limits on constitutional rights
a. opposition to the 2nd amendment
b. opposition to freedom of religion in 1st amendment
c. opposition to the 10th amendment, which limits federal powers
d. opposition to the 4th amendment by allowing expanded spying on US citizens and data mining

3. Lack of uniform enforcement of the law- "enlightened elites" are just fine
a. Fast and Furious
b. IRS scandal
c. spying on opposition journalists
d. NSA spying on US citizens
e. Al Sharpton and Charlie Rangle don't need to pay taxes
f. Hillary concealing emails from the feds is just fine
g. illegals are not prosecuted

4. Usurping rights and power of Congress and ceding them to the POTUS/minions of the POTUS
a. conferring citizenship
b. passing laws by executive order
c. bypassing Congress in establishing treaties
d. turning the 10th Amendment upside down
e. federal appointees in congressional recess sessions
f. allowing the EPA to create and enforce laws not passed by the Congress
g. levying taxes through the POTUS (Obamacare)

Liberals are modern fascists who encourage and support an expanded central authority at the expense of the states and the individual.

The ability to operate with major cognitive dissonance is mandatory to be a leftist.

Then please do explain WHY in a country that spends more on its military than the next 8-10 countries combined, a seemingly permanent part of the right's mantra is MORE MILITARY SPENDING?

HINT: The military IS part of the LARGE government the right wants to build.

The reality is the right LOVES large government when it suits its own agenda.

It's a component of their mental disorder.

Is that why every Republican President has increased the size of the government, Bush doubled it.

Name the last Republican President that was not by your definition a Neo-Con, I seem to not be able to find one. Cons are all for Big Government and being able to force their rules on others, they just have a different ideas when it comes to what to enforce, instead of enforcing laws protecting the country against illegal business dealings and pollution they would enforce laws forcing women to bear children no matter how it was produced, laws that deny people the same rights their fellow Citizens enjoy and a myriad list of laws intrusive in peoples personal lives. In reality there is little between the two sides, it only comes down to the details, you know, where the Devil resides.

I am a physician. It is a fact that liberals have a higher incidence of mental illness.

One wonders whether liberalism is more appealing to those with mental illness, or the adherence to peculiar political policies pushes one over the edge.
