that's certainly not my experience. I grew up in the 50's in Richmond, Ca and saw one neighborhood after another turn from all white to about 80% black because of white flight. I didn't see blacks separating themselves, I saw whites who left for no reason other than a black family moved in near them.

That may be part of it, but I think a whole bunch of racism in the US continues because there are certain people here who still can't believe the south lost the Civil War
