You can certainly make an argument that the government subsidized part of SS (it depends on the person's work history whether they are actually a drain on the system) doesn't go to people over a certain wealth or income level.
Goodness gracious. Can't have the people wake up to the truth of the "Tax and bribe" system of governance.
Once Americans embraced the notion that it was a "good idea" for government to TAKE from one to GIVE to another, it resulted in a "benevolent" totalitarian police state. How else can you enforce such an abomination? Wheedle, "Pretty please with sugar on top?"
Number is way too low. I'd think about it if it was much higher. I make $70 k a year and where I live, its really not a lot of money. Its not like I dont have my struggles and have a ton of money left to save for retirement.
I don't like his idea either. However, isn't SS closer to communism than not having SS?
Or are you using "communist" as a catch all phrase for anything you don't like?
Of course-
However, I (and everyone else) was compelled by the government to contribute to SS. Given the option, I would have never participated.
Given the fact that the amount I would recieve (in the current system) is a fraction of what I contributed, I feel as though I have subsidized the system well enough at this time.
To be robbed further of any benefits is simply injury to insult. Will I "need" social security when I retire? No. However, I could make a quick laundry list of things you have "purchased", but do not "need" that would raise your ire if the government confiscated them.

As I always said, when your wielding your stick in support of government taking from someone else don't be so sure that you'll never be a target.

Is paying for insurance communist? You may not like the idea of a government agency running a insurance racket but that certainly doesn't make insurance in the private sector any more communist than a government one. Anyone, regardless of their income, who pays into this insurance is entitled to receive it.
Great idea. Tick off the Jersey union bosses with mob ties that easily make 200k.
