Well people act like they should just go to the Democratic Party who disagree with all their views save the gay marriage issue.

If your tent isn't big enough, you wont stay in power.

exclude the gays
exclude the tea party crazies
exclude the moderates
exclude the pot legalization folks
exclude the SS recipients as you change their program
etc etc etc

And you will continue to lose presidencies, and eventually erode away the benefits of the gerrymandering.
