Not like it would ever happen but do you think the President should be liable to be imprisoned if he starts a war that is clearly based off lies/false evidence? Take George Bush who blatantly lied about Saddam having nuclear weapons which he obviously knew he didn't had yet lied through his teeth the whole time. Would you like to see him put in the slammer for decades?
Due to "fog of war" and bad intelligence concerns, it would have to be pretty blatant. I don't think George W's case qualifies. The entire EU, Canada, the UK and Russia all believed he had WMD's. Everybody in the Congress and Senate on both sides of believed it. Everybody was wrong.

Bush wasn't lying through his teeth, but rather going based off the intelligence that he was receiving. You really think that the whole thing was a sham made up by Bush simply to go to war? Like was mentioned in the post above, EVERYONE thought there were weapons, including the rest of the world... it wasn't just the US.
If you want to talk about Presidents lying through their teeth, I think Obama takes the cheese on that one.
All government officials and agents should be held accountable for their crimes. In this case, war, it's murder unless in self-defense. They always claim its self-defense to make it look like they aren't the bad guy, but if countries are all just defending themselves there wouldn't be any war would there?

Yes, but thankfully with our system of checks and balances its unlikely to happen and hasn't happened yet. You have a real problem with honesty when you makes claims of Bush "lying" or using "false evidence". Do you think you should be banned from this forum for lying or submitting disingenuous narratives? Bad intelligence does not classify as "lying" or "false evidence". I would encourage you to apologize to the forum for wasting our time and using a false narrative since you want to punish people for deceit. Put your money where your mouth is.

Yes. Martha Stewart got several months for lying about a stock sale, which hurt no one. Bush started a war which caused billions of dollars, killed thousands of Americans, tens of thousands of Iraqis, and destabilized a region which will cause billions more in war and humanitarian crises and possible decades before it's resolved. From his first day in office Bush was talking about going into Iraq. As a nation I find it baffling that we let him lead us into that mess and now we're doing nothing about it except to shrug our shoulders and go, "Oh, well."

If there were any lies about Iraq's WMDs, this is who started them:
Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
