I don't doubt that the US is moving more assets into the region but doubt that they will be boarding and searching Iranian vessels. Under what authority or UN Resolution?
I bet they are actually there to protect the Iranians...our new best friend in the Middle East.
The US fights to support the Saudi monarchy and its control of the peninsula. The Iranian's fight is Shiite vs Sunni. Sometimes these interest are on the same side (vs ISIS) and sometimes they conflict (vs Yemen rebels).

There is no mission to intercept and board Iranian shipping. That's just speculation and sensationalism on the part of AP.
Intercepting and boarding would be an act of war. There is no UN or other resolution supporting or justifying it
