The question is not why we haven't had a woman head-of-state.
Rather it's why we think we're so special.

It is often said that if the Swiss President take the train to work, he/she would most likely not be recognized by the people he/she governs.

So if the fact that the American public have yet to elect a woman as President mean the US is somehow politically 'backward', then who among the leftist 'enlightened' is going to indict the Swiss as undemocratic ? Remember, the Swiss President is not popularly elected.

I can't speak for legislative positions, but there has been no executive black leadership in Europe. Bare in mind though, each European country has I believe about 1-4 million black people. Sounds like a lot, but American has 39 million. Statistically, it would make more sense for America to have a black president before Europe. But both Europe and American have nearly 50/50 men and women.

I wonder what the sex ratio is for the tiny group of people who are talented and ambitious enough to aim for the presidency of the United States and do all that is required of serious candidates. I'm guessing it is hugely skewed toward men.

You heard my post? You must have a good text to speech program. Some people just can't handle the truth. And the truth is that, in today's global climate, you need a leader who the muslim countries will respect. Back in the day we could have had a woman leader because we were dealing with problems in Europe. Even the nazis had progressive policies and views on women. Today, the "religion" and countries that SJWs love so much are the largest obstacle to a woman ever becoming president.

Geezerrunner As a country which has seen strong advocacy for universal suffrage, women's rights and liberation, and a society which sees itself as progressive, it seems odd there has been no female president.
I'm a female, and as of yet, I've not seen any female that I feel would do a good job, and I've just about had my fill of Hillary....

Many western democracies including Canada (Kim Campbell), the United Kingdom (Thatcher), Australia (Gillard) and New Zealand (Shipley and Clark), and a smattering of Scandinavian and European countries (Angela Merkel of Germany), have had one or two female leaders. Several Asian countries (Corazon Aquino of the Phillipines) have had female leaders, some have had several, or the same female leader more than once. This would include Indira Ghandi of India and Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan.
South American countries such as Argentina (Christina Fernandes de Kirchner and Evita Peron), and various African countries have all had female leaders
.

But we are America so this is a mute point.

Perhaps Pakistan is the most surprising as our image of Islamic states is that women typically have limited access to political rights.
yes, surprisingly so....

Perhaps Hillary Clinton will be the first?
I really hope and pray she is not! She is corrupt and vile and is an embarrassment to women.
I don't like her, can you tell?

we don't care what the world thinks of us, we care what they do.

We are not always at war....our enemies are always at war with us.

trillion dollars on defense compare to our GDP is nothing.....that's the cost of being a SUPERPOWER....unless you want to give that up and give it to the likes of Putin and China. I'm sure they would love to take that title from us and control the world's economy.

for most of our history, women just weren't allowed to seek the President. Now it's a matter of time and the right candidate surfacing....I don't believe it's Hillary, guess we'll find out soon enough.

Evita Peron? the wh@re who slept her way to power and never was elected by the people and her EGO was so big that was implementing socialism as the first lady. Between her and her playboy husband stole millions while in power. She used the class warfare to get the support of the poor while she got rich and lived a glamorous life while in power.

Fernandes de Kirchner???? another political corrupt opportunist who used her husband's death to get to power and is real incompetent as a leader and a socialist. Argentina's inflation is at 30% that the people of Argentina have shortages of basic goods like toiler paper and basic food. She is in power for the wrong reasons.

I can go on and on with your list.....electing the nation's top leader just because of the gender and ignoring everything that matters is ignorant........the U.S. will elect a woman President REGARDLESS of her gender when she deserves the position on merits and platform on what is best for the U.S. and when the right candidate comes along.
