Well you see, some of that tax money the government takes from the rich people and corporations, is going towards the building of fighter jets, and into the pockets of all the people involved in the production and maintenance of the jets. No wait, that does not create any poor people. Hmmmm...

How's this? Illegal immigrants are stealing jobs, that poor Americans could have been hired to perform instead. So.... because we aren't hiring illegal aliens to build jets, they go out and steal jobs from the poor. There you go.

You see, that's your problem, you've bought into the notion that the federal government is supposed to be your wet nurse. Taking care of their citizens who are down on their luck is a state function, not the federal government's.
As you've apparently bought into the notion that the federal government's supposed to be the MIC's wet nurse.

Almost
as amusing as watching the Reps who claim they're for less government/less spending time after time cry for a BIGGER military(part of government after all) and MORE military spending, eh?

Actually, it IS pretty much the same. Private organizations cannot and will not fill the need. Pastor Bob is NOT going to spend the charity donations on medical care for all the members with cancer or brain damage or AIDS, nor is he going to help feed the hungry more than a once a week feeding - if that. He needs a new SUV, fancier pews, and money to send missionaries abroad to convert the heathen.

Jobs are a good thing, if they pay enough for rent and food for a family, and health care. Many, many do not, and the ones that do don't have many openings for people without specific skills. Many people CANNOT WORK, they may have severe medical or psychiatric conditions. If you were a boss, would you hire someone who is 85 years old, shaky, and infirm ...... or someone dying of cancer who needs to take extensive time off for treatments ....... or someone who talks to his stapler and carries a dagger to protect himself from shape-shifting aliens who can look just like ordinary humans?

That's because you haven't looked for it, and have ignored it when it was presented to you, even by members here who desperately needed it at some time in their life.

So you're actually in favor of using tax money for corporate welfare, which goes into high wage jobs for a very few people, and goes into profits for corporations and stockholders who lobby for more wars, to increase profits .....

Actually that wouldn't be so terribly bad IF the products made work, do what they're supposed to do, and aren't pure waste like tanks that are built and immediately mothballed. And IF those products aren't more than we need for self-defense.

Unfortunately this spending is controlled by congress, the same congress that takes donations from a lot of these defense companies. If more people actively participated in the election process, cared about who they elect, and came out to vote, hopefully it would result in better people in office.

jobs even if they dont pay "enough", are good things because they increase the demand on labor which leads to higher wages and better work atmosphere. Have you guys learned NOTHING in school?

How do you increase the demand on labor and increase wages and benefits of employees if there is a lack of employment opportunities available?

Have you ever even thought about it?

If there is 100 jobs and 1000 individuals the demand to pay people an acceptable wage = ZERO
If there is 1100 jobs and 100 individuals, the demand to pay people an acceptable wage increases substantially.

The ONLY way to get better work conditions is to create more jobs..

But you dont understand this.. WHY?

You also dont understand that the more jobs there are, the more tax revenues and the lower the need for things like welfare programs, again, WHY?

You also, dont seem to understand that ALLOWING SOMEONE TO KEEP THEIR OWN MONEY is NOT welfare. Why dont you understand common sense?

I'm generally against big military spending, but it's the millenials who will be footing the bill so I don't care anymore.

And?

IF you're going to argue the government should create jobs, it still doesn't mean creating those jobs in the defense sector that sucks as much $$$ from the US budget as the next 8-10 countries spend on defense combined is the best use of that job creation.
