They don't have much of a choice. These people are professional propagandists who hide behind freedom of speech and know exactly how to manipulate their statements, laud certain conclusions, ridicule others and feed into the general paranoia about corruption and scandals. It doesn't help that their field is too complex for laymen to understand and they're fighting against liars who have 100s of different lies for every truth.
