Deficits are becoming worse, very Reagan like Approach but with paltry results, quoting some minor gains in employment doesn't equate to prosperous.

Quote:
Now, Kansas's red ink has left the governor red- faced. Brownback is asking
Republican state lawmakers to slow the income tax cuts over the next few years,
raise taxes on cigarettes and alcohol, overhaul school funding, and divert money
from the state's highway fund in order to balance the budget. It's not as if
he's abandoning his conservative economic philosophy—he still wants to replace
the state's income tax entirely with consumption taxes over time. And like any
politician on the ropes, he is preaching patience.

Hers the long term issue. The world is function on debt. Banks are net negative interest. Spending is out of control with not enough revenues to support it. Something is going to break and people are going to loose a lot of money. Until that happens we continue down an unsustainable road.

But if you lived there and had a decent job, you are less likely inclined to move away.

Conclusion: Kansas has modest budget woes but you are piling on them out of partisanship.

My relative in Illinois is VERY jealous about how things are here in Kansas in terms of school quality etc.

I don't support Brownback and his actions were wayyy too hasty in terms of implementation even assuming they would work.

However, it's sad watching a state that is still in better shape than most get pilloried by a bunch of partisan hacks.
