The proposed California High Speed Rail line would be more expensive than every other active HSR proposal in the country put together. While subsidized by everyone who pays the regressive sales tax, its users would have a higher than average income, so it is a subsidy from the poor to the rich. It would cost about $600-$1000 person or $2000-$3000 per California household before a single trip is made. - David Levinson, University of Minnesota

..and even though we've just had the biggest tax hike ($1B) in CA history, we are also paying (not so)hidden taxes at the pump for Jerry Browns folly.

California's High Speed Rail: Some Facts

Thank You "Moonbeam"
The proposed California High Speed Rail is being planned to ride upon the major fault lines.

It would be better to have it ride just east of the fault lines.

and the real bogus excuses are when you hear the media saying, "gas prices are going up due to worry about". Due to worry about?????

Just like the stupid reports on the bird flu hitting chickens.....and eggs were going to go up....shhheeesh....

Common sense tells you, that you know prices are going to go up during the summer months, and of course on Holidays, b/c more people travel....

But, the bottom line is greed, I'm sorry, but no CEO should be making that kind of money....
and when they publish their profits it is disgusting.

And gas isn't the only thing to go up, food prices, electric, cable, etc...they continually go up, but never go down and my raise never covers those increases....?????

I remember my parents complaining about the very same thing....and yes, sometimes prices to have to go up, but not to the magnitude they are going up now....you look all around you and it's positively greed.
Pesky mass die offs impacting egg supply shouldn't cause a price increase in eggs?

Sorry, you need some deep breaths because you're clearly not rational enough to discuss this.

Yep lowest labor day prices in 11 years due to essentially a price war in the oil markets.

And no, it's not because people complained about high prices that went on for 3+ years....

It's about global production vs. global demand.

Gas prices moving in parallel to crude oil - UPI.com

It has been 4 months since you posted this... yet, gas prices have actually stayed the same here in SoCal, while the price of oil has been cut by 60%.

It would be better to use the money for infrastructure that is crumbling here. They figure 1/2 the bridges in Ca need repair, and as many as 10% are actually dangerously close to failing entirely. We are due for a big EQ, since it has been over 24 and 21 years respectively since the last majors: Landers and Northridge which were 21 and 23 years after the San Fernando (1971), all of which I lived through.

History tells us that WE are past due for a big one. We shouldn't be wasting money on HSR at all.

Yeah, I was trying to remember the last time I saw gas below $2/gallon. It probably was 2004-2005, even though there were some blips in between then and now that probably pushed it below.
