That is incorrect. ALL speech is protected from interference from the government. Under your response, WHO decides what is deemed "hate" speech? I could say that every time Barack speaks against Republicans, that is hate speech.

That's just not true. The first amendment, which addresses the subject of free speech is subject to reasonable restrictions, enforced by the government. Just like the 2nd, and all the rest of the bill of rights. Every freedom delineated in the constitution is subject to reasonable restrictions.
