The Quaran (Koran) and Sharia Law.....
Have you seen the goal?

The crap will eventually hit the fan. Will you be standing next to someone holding the Quaran, or someone holding a Bible, because the Holy War waging for millennia, is coming to a theater near you. It is only a matter of time, before the intolerance effects you and your family.

Exactly, that is why I mentioned the 2003 invasion in particular.

The British Balfour Declaration (1916) is what helped start this mess. The usual divide and conqueror strategies, along with the UK and France deciding to draw lines on a map without regard to the people living there didn't help.

The U.S. is not helping itself now by continuing to support Israel, especially in the Israel/Palestine conflict, which no matter who wins that is irrelevant to U.S. national interest.

Very true. That is why we have been talking about only a small percentage of Muslims. The vast majority of Muslims are smart enough and peaceful enough not to take the most violent dictates of their holy book too seriously. It's only the ones that take bedtime stories literally that we have to be concerned about. No different than say Christians that detonate bombs at gay weddings.

This is true.

Didn't need to. The magazine fired the writer and anti-semitism/hate speech against Jews is a *crime* punishable by fine and imprisonment in a lot of Europe.

The double standard is clear.

I don't much care what it says.

Sorry, I can no longer take you seriously. The intolerance is already affecting me in many ways.

So do you support her right to free speech or not

I don't think most in this thread are taking your position.

Every practicing Muslim takes every word of the Quran very seriously. It's the literal word of God to us. What a practicing Muslim does do is read in to what the context of verses are, when they were revealed, why, what has been the practical application of Muslims scholars throughout history in response to such verses, etc...

What ISIS and Al-Qaeda and Pamela Geller and Sean Hannity have done is taken those verses out of context, in order to rationalize and justify actions to meet *political* goals. It is extremely telling that most of the ISIS leadership is ex-Saddam Baathists whom were *very* secular and almost despised religion while that was the flavor of the day as that would garner them political power. Now it's a new brand and new marketing scheme.

The KKK did this as well...they had political goals surrounding ensuring that White-Protestants were to be segregated from non-members of that group and that they would have legal and social superiority over non-members. They cherry-picked from scripture to endorse a campaign that stated that Manifest Destiny was God Ordained and that non-Whites were sub-human heathens. Religion was used to recruit and convince but the goals were political. In other words Christianity didn't make the KKK and nor did Islam make ISIS/Al-Qaeda.

You have to be fair here. It doesn't seem to me that all Muslims take the route you are laying out here.

Now as far as hijacking a belief for no other reason than an excuse to try and justify your actions, I agree with you. Many will do just that.

Condemn others to death for not strictly abiding by their version of the Koran but yet completely ignore it when they go rampaging.

edit: you added to your reply and rather than quote it all I will just say that its a good example of what you are saying.
