Its the Oprah phenomenon, a person with "no talent" who just holds a mic in the face of someone who did something (someone who has a talent) with their life ends up becoming more famous than the person they're interviewing.

In our culture, these "Espn anchors" and Al Rokers and whatnut who just basically read sports scores and weather reports off teleprompters become HUGE and walk around like they're A listers.

How does this happen? Why does this happen?

I don't know. Remember that people like Edward R. Morrow were 'famous' interviewers back in the 1950s, followed by people like Mike Wallace, Barbara Walters, and so on. I guess that if ratings go up when these people are on television, then money and fame will flow to them.

It is kind of pathetic, isn't it?

Americans seem to be fascinated with celebrity. How else could you explain a low-info skank like Kim Kartrashian having a nearly 9-figure net worth while at the same time having virtually no talent?
