Doubtful. People like Pamela Geller are out there all over the media promoting hate, antagonistic speech, free speech.
All those anything-goes 'free speechers' will have to come out to defend the professor. Otherwise they would look hypocritical.
Not all speech is protected by the First Amendment.
Quote:
Employers have the right to take action against any employee who engages in political speech that company leaders find offensive. With a few narrow exceptions the Constitution and the federal laws derived from it only protect a person’s right to expression from government interference, not from the restrictions a private employer may impose, lawyers say.
Pamela Geller is self employed. She doesn't have to worry about her views misrepresenting or being a poor reflection on her employer, and no employer has to worry about that either. There are laws in place to protect employers and companies/organizations from speech by their employees which may undermine or misrepresent a company or organization.
For instance, would you think it acceptable for the president of your local Democratic Party to go around making speeches for Republican candidates and fill her yard with signage that was offensive to the local Democratic candidates? Sure - she has the right to do both - as a CITIZEN. But she doesn't have the right to do either as the president of the local Democratic Party. See the difference?
I suspect if a white, Hispanic, or Asian assistant professor at a lesser known university than BU tweeted such statements about people of color her/his head would be chopped (figuratively of course) and the story would make national news.
There is a double standard in this country regarding who is allowed to engage in disparaging speech based on race without being publicly castigated.

It sounds like she does not have a problem with white females......so how come its racist and not sexist? The story of the white male.....setting up a country in their image......has been problematic for those who are not white males. Why should she be fired for recognizing that?
Being it was the only thing white males knew at the time, it would make sense they would set things up in their own image. Any other race would have done the same.

And hence any other race would have to live the the consequence of that action as well....

She's a woman, that might have something to do with it.
She must be pretty darn smart if she is a professor. You don't just waltz in and get a job like that unless you have the background.
Too bad that "smart" and "wise" don't always go hand in hand.
