Damn those insurance companies for not giving away coverage for free.
I'm sure you are one of the millions without health insurance and just pay cash for everything. Probably don't drive because you don't want auto insurance, don't have a home loan because you don't want homeowners insurance.
The insurance industry has had exceptionally good profit margins throughout the past decades. All they have to do is raise premiums and presto--they aren't subject to the same bad economy the rest of us are. This has been going on since the 80s. Any time anyone questions them--they just start in on attorneys.
The insurance industry always has an excuse, but the truth is that it wants to keep its profits excessively high and not be subject to the same market forces as others. Since, as you noted, people pretty much have to have insurance--there is no choice--there is no real marketplace. Insurance is a ripoff and in some cases, equal to extortion. Ask Florida homeowners about the property insurance extortion industry.
It would be nice to see leeches like United Healthcare fold as well.
Agree. Did you know a previous CEO of UHC made $400,000,000 a year and retired with a half a billion in stock options? He was convicted of stock fraud and fined a whopping $400,000,000. One years pay.
They raised their rates LOL sure that had NOTHING to do with them closing...good riddance.
