A female reporter was fed up with guys interrupting with FHRITP and confronted them. One of them was identified as a Hydro One (electric company) employee and was fired from his $100,000 year job. He violated their conduct code but was on personal time at a soccer game. The guy's an idiot but should a company be able to fire you for this?

In Canada....
"So far none of the reporters want charges laid,” said Const. Victor Kwong of the Toronto police. “Bottom line is, if the reporters did want to file a report with us, they absolutely can.”
In Calgary, police have issued a statement to broadcasters that the activity constitutes grounds for a charge and arrest.
“We haven’t taken it as far as what Calgary has done because in Calgary apparently it was quite rampant and quite common,” Kwong said.
Kingston police said in a tweet on Tuesday morning, “Our media partners should not have to deal with #FHRITP. Cause Disturbance seems to apply.”
Causing disturbance is a Criminal Code offence which includes “fighting, screaming, shouting, swearing, singing or using insulting or obscene language,” in a public place.

...Gray says that it would be difficult to speculate on any one particular charge, as it would depend on the exact nature of the incident and subsequent investigation.
“You could be looking at mischief, you could be looking at breach of the peace, you could be looking at sexual harassment, you could be looking at assault,” Gray said.

He should be able to be fired. You want to run around and get attention that way, you should pay the price. He may be on personal time but those who know what company he works for, it makes the company look bad. Screw him. It amazing he's smart enough to do anything that pays 6 figures.

More and more people are acting like garbage in public. Not just on the internet. Its as if we are degrading as a society rather than improving. Its pathetic and sad. Grown adults cant behave and act like adults. Since when does having a foul mouth make you an adult anyways?

If their code of conduct includes purview over conduct not necessarily related to your job, then so be it.

Being that I live in a right to work state, I can't say too much about this. In Arizona, you can be fired for blinking your eyes too fast.

Any company would be out of there bloody mind not to fire someone so blatantly stupid as to say the things that he said into a microphone and in front of a TV camera.

They would also be out of the minds because if this individual was ever the subject of a suit claiming sexual harassment or creating a hostile work environment, the first thing the jury is going to see is this tape.

What a bloody idiot.

Most companies believe it is their god-given right to fire workers. Government workers are supposed to have more protection.

It actually isn't a true government entity. Hydro One is a business that is owned by the Ontario Government, much like the Post Office is owned by the US Government.
