False. Those who used the "bible" to justify their bigotry are NOT true Christians people it is completely against the teachings of Christ.
And yet those people who used the Bible to justify their bigotry self-identified as Christians and saw themselves as completely compliant with the teachings of Christ.
Who decides who is a real Christian and who is not? God? Does he post this somewhere? Fred Phelps-not a Christian. Barack Obama-Christian. All white supremacists-not Christian.
Christianity is based on peace and love. Anyone who murders or maims in the name of Christ is not following the teachings of Christ. A Christian who uses the Bible to justify violence and hatred is like a vegetarian who eats fried chicken and steak while still claiming to be vegetarian.
Some versions of Christianity are based on peace and love. Others aren't. Who decides which version of Christianity is the right version, and which the erroneous version?

Christianity itself = peace, love and forgiveness. Forget about Westboro Baptist "church"... Read the New Testament and Gospels of Christ instead.
We are not a Christian nation, nor have we ever really been one, nor should we ever become one and anyone who wants it should be ignored and their opinions shot down as they lack intellectual thought.
That's why this country is in decline, and horrible things are happening. Nevertheless, the government still observes Christmas and favors Christianity (holidays) over all other religions and none
