I like the points she raised. If you stand up for liberal principles, you must be in opposition to Islam. Self described liberals like Maher oppose Islam for its intolerance of egalitarian ideas. I don't know why some on the left automatically dismiss critics of Islam as bigots. Muslims come in all shades, so it's not bigotry to criticize their ideology.

Quote:
Maher alluded to liberals he “used to respect” who keep arguing with him on this issue, rebutting the suggestion that there are other Muslim nations which are basically “bastions of freedom and democracy.”
He told Hirsi Ali that liberals just don’t understand that the position the two of them are taking is the liberal one. Hirsi Ali agreed that what radical Muslims do is an “assault on liberalism.”

Because everyone knows Western civilization, Christianity, and straight white men are the real problem, right?

Bill Maher is a very lazy person who likes to justify the establishment position.

That is we (the west) are the superior culture compared to the east. He already has established that position and searches for anecdotes. His positions on guns, religion, are quite superficial.

People talk about "Islam" as though it is monolithic thing. Most Muslims as most christian have never read the Entire Quran neither have they read the entire alleged quotes from Mohammad and other guys like Ali, AbuBakar, Omar, ...

It is necessary to note that a ton of things that Mohammad did were actually reasonable for the Arab Society (saudi arabia and yemen, UAE) of that day. a considerable amount of it was of course bloody as well.

Most American "Christians" believe that Jesus was "white blonde guy". That's because have a tendency to make something their own. The Protestant chruches of the U.S are quite different from Protestant beliefs in Europe, Africa and the far east. Same goes for Catholic church in America vs Africa and Latin America. Religion over time evolves with norms of society in every country.

to assume all "Muslims" agree on something would be quite false. A Muslim from Indonesia would not understand many things Muslims in Turkey or Balkans would practice. As would Muslims China have very little connection with some Muslim in Morocco does.

belief means different things to different people. we have had good and evil atheists. we have had good and evil Christians. we have had good and evil Muslims. we have good and evil Hindus and the list goes on..

as long man lives we are going to have people doing evil things. and so long we are around there will be people like Bill Maher who try to over simplify things. We can not help it is convenient. our brain is designed to create stereotypes of people.

Ayyan Hirsi Ali for all intensive purposes has turned herself into a money making machine.

Strange statements, because I have not seen anyone that defends terrorists on this or any other site, maybe someone can provide some examples of anyone here doing it, or maybe you can't. What many people take issue with is some claiming the Islamic Radicals represent all Muslims, it I done time and time again and is wrong, so expect to be called out when you do it.

Leftists, in general, aren't really that logical. They hold many contradictory positions that show no ideological consistency and their support for Islam is only one example.

"Intents and purposes."

And I doubt very seriously that most American Christians think that "Jesus was a white blonde guy."
