Al's protégé daughter, Dominique, is suing for a sprained ankle she alleges she got when she stumbled over a crack in the sidewalk.

Quote:
Dominique Sharpton, 28, says she was “severely injured, bruised and wounded” when she stumbled over uneven pavement at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway downtown last year, according to a lawsuit.

Currently on vacation in Bali, the membership director for her gadfly dad’s National Action Network claims she “still suffers and will continue to suffer for some time physical pain and bodily injuries,” according to the suit filed against the city departments of Transportation and Environmental Protection.

Falling in the street left her with “internal and external injuries to the whole body, lower and upper limbs, the full extent of which are unknown, permanent pain and mental anguish,” she alleges in the court document.

The younger Sharpton is seeking the damages for “loss of quality of life, future pain and suffering, future medical bills, [and] future diminution of income,” according to court papers.
Al Sharpton

I'm sure de Blasio will be called Sharpton's office to answer for his daughter's life threatening injuries.

If she can't prove the city knew about the defect beforehand, the city cannot be held liable.

Why is this news? Just about every city out there pays hundreds of thousands, to millions every year to a collective clutz of regular citizens, and I don't see it popping up here. This is in no way different. You guys need to find better **** to cry about.

Come on.... $5 Million for a sprained ankle ?

Dad must need the cash to pay all the taxes he owes. Nuts don't fall far from the tree.

Yeah, I agree that's way over the top, but I just have a hard time believing this thread would even exist if it wasn't Al's daughter.

Maybe it's a legit argument simply because it is his daughter? This is how Al has made his living. Do you believe it's a legit living?

Not morally, no. But is it legal to do so?
