Explain Newark. It's in New Jersey, a state with very strict laws about transporting guns into the state. Transporting guns in from another state is extremely difficult, if not impossible. However, Newark is one of the most murderous cities in the nation. I don't think your plan would work. Newark is living proof of it.

In fact, here is something more to consider. Vermont and New Hampshire have relatively loose gun laws and those states don't have severe murder issues. Guns could get transported from Vermont easily. BTW, Vermont isn't a southern state.

Thanks to that border crossing as you enter new jersey. They search every vehicle coming from the south. .and make transportation of drugs or guns very tough

Seriously dude - how does putting a gun in your pocket and driving across the street count as "nearly impossible" to you

Oh, and let us know how many people were shot in "trigger happy" Texas last weekend.

49 people shot in Chicago over weekend: 'Whole bunch of shots' - Chicago Tribune
They could end all of this by just making it against the law to shoot people.

I am talking about laws that make it legally challenging.

http://wikitravel.org/en/New_Jersey:

Quote:
"Under no circumstances are you to import firearms into the state without consulting both the New Jersey State Police and proper legal council prior to your trip. There are a few legal exceptions that must be followed strictly. New Jersey does not recognize any out-of-state gun licenses and there are no gun offenses that are graded below a felony. Police are known to enforce these laws vigorously, and if caught with an illegal firearm you will be prosecuted, even if you are just a hunter traveling through. Although the Federal "Assault Weapons" Ban has expired, New Jersey still has a state ban on numerous firearms, ammunition, magazines and other weapons that are legal in other states. Federal Firearms Owner Protection Act (U.S.C. 926A) allows you to pass through NJ with firearms BUT you must not make an "unreasonable" stop. Police are allowed considerable discretion on what "reasonable" is. Stops for fuel, food, or restrooms are "reasonable". The visit to Aunt Mae NOT."

Two of the whitest states besides North Dakota that I can think of. I don't know what to make of that, since I don't believe skin color drives gun violence.

Vermont - 95% white
New Hampshire - 93% white
New Jersey - 68% white

Obviously the criminals will not obey that law, or any law for that matter.

49 people shot over weekend for average of 25 per day. This comes out to 1 person of every 108,000 shot every day.

Texas 27 million or with 25 people shot or so you say. This comes out to 1 person every 1,080,000 shot every day in Texas.

Looks to me that your chances of getting shot in Chicago are ten times greater than in Texas.

If only we could make all guns illegal and become more like Mexico where all guns are outlawed and long jail sentences await for those who even possess a single bullet.

Mexico doesn't have any gun crime, it is time to follow their working example!

I am sure you must be being sarcastic. Have you EVER read a newspaper or traveled to Mexico? Ever heard of the drug cartels? Juarez Mexico has more murders than any place in the world. There are more violent deaths in Mexico than there are in any war zone in the world. If I wanted to buy an automatic weapon, I could get one in Mexico without any issues. Also, there are those private citizens who are allowed to own firearms and ammunition in Mexico. They are called rich people.

Maybe the case for Vermont and New Hampshire. Utah isn't 95% White like the other two states you mentioned and it has a low murder rate.

And something else. I looked at West Virginia's murder rate. WV is 93% White and has a higher murder rate than Utah, which is around 81% White.

Utah - 1.7 murders per 100,000
West Virginia - 3.3

And New Jersey's White population is closer to 60%.

And there is something more I want to point out.

Texas has a murder rate of 4.3, and is 45% White. New Jersey has a murder rate of 4.5 and is 60% White.

That was my whole point. New Jersey has gun control laws stricter than most states. However, Newark has a murder rate of 40 murders per 100,000. This contrasts with Chicago's 15 murders per 100,000.
