and Sweden is starting to have problems because of a shift in the ratio of workers to non-workers.

Congratulations to the city of Los Angeles raising its minimum wage to $15/h by 2020 for larger businesses and 2021 for smaller businesses

This will be the largest city in America with highest minimum wage in the nation. This will help 1 million workers' who live under poverty.
okay the average right now is $10 or so. . .$15 by 2021 isn't that big of a raise

regardless, *yawn

bad idea to interfere in the process between an employer and a employee. I'm betting the govt setting a wage will cost us a lot of jobs (employers will go with most efficient employed, fire ones not worth 15, or go with technology). Reduce spending on services (marketing, etc) and raise prices.

all the while its a bandaid on cancer. You don't stop to address the issue. . which is NOT that Mcdonalds is still paying the same adjusted for inflation wage they always have.

The issue is WHY are so many heads of households this the ONLY job they can get.

$15 dollar minimum wage. Yeah, great solution. Band aid that makes the uneducated happy, doesn't fix any problems. Oh well, democracy at work.

Doesn't that sound familiar minus the ethnicity particulars.

Why did Sweden let Islamic/3rd world immigrants in their country in the first place...

"During 2014 and 2015 a total of 400,000 immigrants are expected to ask for residency in Sweden,
Ex Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt acknowledged that mass immigration is not profitable for the Swedes….

Geez, ya think....

I agree, this was a good move for LA.

I still remember you are the one who said raising minimum wage would cause our jobs being moved to oversea. How is that a good move for LA?

I'm sure his perspective is without any bias....

Here is why Mr. Pacitti is at his current job:

Why I chose Siena:
My focus on economic justice—a more equal income distribution, greater opportunity for disadvantaged groups, a living wage, ending economic insecurity—is a perfect match with Siena’s mission and focus on social justice. - See more at: https://www.siena.edu/faculty-and-st....qyecJ2vF.dpuf

Economists have a responsibility to highlight the ethical and policy dimensions of the discipline, with an eye toward fairness and distribution.

According to Hollywood, Hollywood movies are being filmed elsewhere to reduce costs.

Do you not believe raising wages increases costs of business?

But you can't live on $15 per hour, so maybe they should add rent controls. Limit the rent for a 1 bedroom apartment to $500 per month. And you can't buy the food you need on $15 per hour, so they should implement food price controls. And how about clothing. Everybody needs clothing, so they should implement clothing price controls. Isn't that what made the Soviet Union so successful?
