That in no way addresses the issue especially after you admitted you like to buy shoes made with the $2 an hour labor. Wanting and reality are two very different things. I can want whatever it is I want but that doesn't change the facts that those like yourself are going to buy the cheap Chinese shoes over the expensive U.S. ones so they are never going to get made in the first place.

You don't have much choice over food though and if you think you are ahead paying $9 for a burger, well again, reality is far different than theory.

But why aren't folks bitching about the housing costs out in Los A.
Folks should not be paying 500K for a 1-2 bedroom dump. Sale Prices
have appreciated 77 percent there in the last five years.

Doesn't matter what their minimum wage is, if ^^^^ **** keeps happening there.
I mean really, you work to put a roof over your head, and food in your mouth.

You're missing the point, they are expensive to begin with in part because of the high wages. FYI another reason they are so expensive is because of the quality. You are going to get years of use out of pair and they can be resoled for about $50....

Huh? You'd rather they have no job at all?

Smaller business's will adjust by increasing the cost of their products, larger ones with more capital and options will seek lower cost environment if it puts them at a competitive disadvantage that cannot be overcome. They'll have no choice.

First, your putting up barriers to everything, and that's more of the problem than what's available. Secondly, I didn't specify college or trade school. I said get stuff together. There isn't anything wrong with working in low skill jobs except that depending on your circumstances, they may not pay enough and if you don't have skills after several years, then that's another discussion.

Let's take an example - burger flipper 1 works his shift and does what he's told. Burger flipper 1 ends up saying businesses should plan to pay me more 4 years from now.

Burger flipper 2 gets to work early, stays late if someone else is late for their shift, takes out the trash and sweeps without being told, asks how he can help someone else instead of saying "that's not my job", covers when the place is short-staffed, is polite and respectful to customers and makes sure they're satisfied. Burger flipper 2 becomes assistant manager and operates the same way. A year from now, when the manager moves on, burger flipper two get's the manager job. After the same 4 years pass, burger flipper 2 has not gone to college but now has management experience and a great recommendation from a businessman known in the community. He doesn't have to demand that the government intervene on his behalf to the detriment of the businessman kind enough to give him the glowing recommendation because he's no longer at minimum wage.

I don't bi itch about housing costs because you are free to live where you choose.

If you don't want to pay $500k for a 2 bedroom dump in LA, move to Houston and live in a $45k 3 bedroom dump in Houston - 7317 Avenue E, Houston TX 77011 - HAR.com

See, now you've touched on one of those points that drive the righties from fly-over states absolutely insane. They've decided in their minds that California is a horrible, socialist hellhole, yet they're faced with the fact that people gladly pay very well indeed to live here.

Faced with the impossibility of reconciling their notions of California with their notions of the market's sacrosanct infallibility, some watertight bulkheads have gone up in their minds.

I don't know who "gladly pays", but I seriously want to know how prices of homes can go
up 77 percent in the last five years in Los A. and wages aren't (really). Is another housing
bubble coming???, because they can't sustain that with the wages the way they are.

Loss of mid-wage jobs hampers state's growth - LA Times

"But in Southern California — which has more than double the number of jobs in the Bay Area — payrolls shrank faster and have recovered more slowly.

More than a million jobs will be created in the region between 2010 and 2020, and nearly half will pay less than $14.35 an hour, projects Levy, the Palo Alto economist.

Last year, average wages in Los Angeles County declined 1.9% — tying Jefferson, Ala., for 302nd place out of 334 large counties nationwide. San Francisco ranked 19th with a 3% increase."
