Yes because changing your sisters' diapers just makes all older brothers all hot and bothered. My mom shared a room with her two brothers until she was 13 and they were 11 and 16. She said no one ever touched her because, oh right, they were her brothers!

The only part of that drivel that was worth anything at all was when the young perp said that open lines of communication between him and his family and some quality sex education talk around the age of twelve might have helped to prevent what he did.

The rest was pure garbage. Two year olds don't need to be taught modesty.

The part about the porn bothered me somewhat. I worked with a girl whose son ( he was a special ed kid ) figured out how to get porn on pay per view. She was horrified when she got the bill. She was even more horrified when he confessed to acting out the things he saw on his baby sister.

I'm very libertarian, but porn in the hands of already troubled kids is an area I take a rather conservative approach on. As in, not no, but Hell No!

Kids need sex education. They need to understand that puberty, masturbation, etc. Are normal. They also need to be taught respect for members of the opposite sex. My boys were taught about birth control, STDs, and the fact that if they liked a girl enough to think it was okay to participate in adult behavior with her, they better well like her enough to treat her nicely in public and protect her and themselves from unplanned pregnancy and STDs.

We may not have been the most Christian family on the block, but we didn't raise sex offenders.

exactly! My brother and I shared a bedroom until well into our teen years and the worst thing he ever did (and he did it more than once) was trip me when I would get out of bed in the middle of the night to go pee

I think it's kind of despicable so many of you seem so happy this happened. Obviously, it's not even in the same universe in terms of the horrendous acts carried out by this pervert who molested his sisters, but I still find it pretty bad that so many seem to rejoice that it happened.
I don't think anyone is happy over the molestation. For many of us this show has been hard to stomach for years now. I wish TLC would lose its license for the reckless way they've inflicted these bizarre families on the public and tried to present them as "normal." There was nothing normal or cute about the Honey Boo Boo family, and there was never anything to celebrate over a couple who had 19 children. These revelations show the Duggar clan to be just another example of people who talk one way yet live another. I hope the show goes in the dust bin. It's long over due.

I haven't watch any of these types of shows you are complaining about because in my house I have the ability to turn off the TV or turn the channel. I thought it worked that way in every house. I had no idea people were forced to watch certain shows. That is just wrong and we need to do something about all those TVs incapable of having their channels changed.

Seriously, they wouldn't show it if people didn't watch it.

Every time the Duggars had a child they would pass the child onto a older child to raise

It works this way in my house as well. I watched enough of the show to be appalled and then promptly turned the channel. My regret has been to see how popular these shows have become when it's clear the families involved are nothing to glorify. Why any of it has even the slightest appeal is beyond me.

So, let's see: Josh Duggar did some unspeakable things and somebody who knew about it wrote it in a letter. They put the letter inside of a book and the book HAPPENED to get loaned to somebody who found the letter. When the Duggars were set to appear on Oprah's show (I don't watch that either), some anonymous person who found the letter wrote to Oprah and told her what despicable people the Duggars are and don't put them on your show. Did I get that right? That was in 2006 when Oprah allegedly informed the Child Abuse Hotline or whatever the organization is named. The Duggars have appeared on GMA since then. And A. Nonnymoose didn't bother to inform GMA about this? And didn't go to the tabloids and sell them this juicy tidbit?

Just so nobody misinterprets what I'm saying: Yes, I think the molestation happened. No, I don't condone it. Are we square on that? O.K. What I AM saying is that I think it rather strange that a story that Oprah has been aware of for nine years is just now seeing the light of day when there is nothing else exciting going on in Arkansas. Just sayin'.

ETA: Sorry, oldhag, I didn't mean to quote your post. My laptop has been doing strange things all day. I mean I liked your post and all, but how it got in the quote is beyond my understanding.

Am definitely not condoning his actions; yet I applaud Josh and his parents for taking the proper steps to remedy the situation and ensure it never happens again.
They reported it to an authority who is now serving a 45 year prison sentence for child pornography...
