The OP is only looking at a small fraction of the beginning of 2015, that's the entire premise of this thread.

The only reason Chicago gets picked on is because it's murder rate is pretty bad and it's Obama country. Other liberal "strongholds" like NYC, Los Angeles, and San Francisco have low crime rates, so the Limbaugh parrots tend to leave them alone.
In pretty sure Houston is also a Democratic bastion too...

Manhattan is 22.7 square miles in area, whereas Houston is 599.6 square miles in area. Though Manhattan has many more times the population of Houston, they're all bunched into a small area where you can have a police officer nearby at the drop of a hat. Houston is more spread out and has far less police per square mile than Manhattan does.

Plus, we're located near a port and about 360 miles from the Mexican border. It is therefore a hub for drug trafficking and human trafficking.

I know Houston isn't safe everywhere, but (knock on wood) I have never been the victim of a crime and I've lived here my whole life. It is possible to avoid high crime areas. The worst thing is people breaking into your house, but a lot of people have guns and shoot intruders. And normally they are not prosecuted for protecting their homes or person. Oh, and just to be clear, most people never experience intruders into their homes. I was just mentioning it because you can live anywhere and this can happen. It's not about avoiding certain areas.

Another thing could be we have had a huge influx of immigrants to this city (legal and illegal, intrastate and international).

Break it down by "race": if it's mostly Black people doing the deed in Houston; that's a damning indictment of the "culture" of way too many of that group of people. Despicable.

OTOH: if it's "white" people forcing doing those killings; then maybe the Houston cops NEED to be allowed to do their job and "take out the trash" of ANY race. BTW: I'm a white dude.

Houston murder rate 12/100k

Chicago 16/100k....4 times the national average and record holder since 1965

OP must have used Obama math and his disdain for Texas and oil.
So having a murder rate of 16/100k is bad but 12/100 k is not?????????

What??????

Fine, what were the same stats from the past 10 years?

GO ahead, I'll wait....
