Probably because there seems to be a higher number of fast-food chicken restaurants in black neighborhoods: Popeye's, Church's Chicken and others.

More likely because the idea of "soul food" emanated from New York City and Hollywood-based media where the image-shapers only knew of black people liking those foods, not realizing they were common regional foods.

on economic and racial issues involving black people, Republicans and conservatives usually quote Sowell as if his writings were from the Bible.

Now that he has turned the tables, people have a problem with it.

I've read alot of the essay. I don't agree with everything in the essay. However, I can point to some important things. In "Black Rednecks and White Liberals", it was mentioned that around WWI, Blacks from Ohio scored better on mental tests than Whites from Kentucky(just across the river).

There are also certain things among the dialect to consider. Things like "we be", "axe" and the like. It is associated exclusively with Blacks. Those were modes of speech that date back to the 17th century borderland areas of northern England/southern Scotland.

Here is more:Black Rednecks & White Liberals

Mind you, this is just an excerpt.

You really can't get anything right. I am as conservative as they come and I think Sowell is 100% correct.

Interesting that you mention this. I mentioned some of what was said by Thomas Sowell, to someone with some very right wing views. Said person also had a negative view of Blacks. When I mentioned some of what Thomas Sowell said, in my mind, I figured said person might take a chance on a Black intellectual with some conservative views. Said person just mocked Thomas Sowell when I mentioned "Black Rednecks and White Liberals", or rather some of what Thomas Sowell had to say.

There are 8 pages of conservatives saying he is wrong on this subject, you are the exception, not the rule so how exactly can you say "you really cant get anything right " ????
